Iceland can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to outdoor activities, but especially in terms of eating out. Your host will be able to advise on how to save money. In remote areas the only option for dinner will be at the guesthouse/hostels we are staying at. Please stock up on food at a supermarket prior to arrival if you would like to opt out eating at the guesthouse's restaurant.

The destinations visited on this trip can be cold throughout the year, especially at the start and end of the season and at night. Please bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions.

As accommodation on this trip is either twin or multi share, single travelers will share a room with other travelers of the same sex. Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart. Please also be aware that most hotels and guesthouses in Iceland offer shared bathrooms rather than en-suite facilities. Rooms in Iceland can be small, and at times you may be accommodated a short walk away from the main building. Please note that a single supplement is not available on this trip.

1. Physical Activity: There is a lot of Snow walking and hiking activities involve in this trip. Kindly keep this in mind before doing the booking.

Travel clothing and Gear: Because of unpredictable extreme winters and windy conditions, one need to prepare themselves with proper clothing and winter gear which should include the following: Snow jackets (Anti-wind with at least -5degrees resistance), Snow hiking boat (warm inside) and also easily walkable, winter trousers, inner thermals, gloves, Body/hand warmers, Overshoe snow crampons, eye goggles (anti-wind, anti-fog).

CURRENCY
The official currency in Iceland is the Icelandic Krona (ISK).

ATMs are available in most towns, so the easiest way to access cash on your trip is to bring a credi/debit card. Please check with your bank about overseas withdrawal fees before you depart. Some banks will allow a cash advance against a major credit card which will incur a service charge of 5% or more. Currency exchange is available at major banks and some hotels. The easiest foreign currencies to exchange are USD and EUR, however please be aware of the security risk of carrying large amounts of cash. Please note that credit cards are widely accepted throughout Iceland, and you can virtually get by without any cash.

SPENDING MONEY:
When it comes to spending money on the trip, every traveller is a little different. You know your spending habits better than we do, so please budget a sensible amount for things like meals not included, drinks, shopping, optional activities and laundry. It's always better to bring a little more than you think you'll need. Also make sure you've read your trip details thoroughly so you know what's included in the trip price and what isn't. This should make budgeting a little easier. You'll find this info in the Inclusions section.

BUDGET
Please budget for additional meals and expenses while on your trip. We suggest ISK 60,000 for meals not included on this trip. Please remember that Iceland can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to visiting a cafe, but especially in terms of eating out. Your host will be able to advise on how to save money. In remote areas the only option for dinner will be at the guesthouse/hostel we are staying at. Please stock up on food at a supermarket prior to arrival if you would like to opt out eating at the guesthouse's restaurant.

CONTINGENCY FUNDS:
We try to plan for every eventuality, but there are still some things beyond our control. Please make sure you have access to an extra US$500 for emergencies (e.g. severe weather, natural disasters, civil unrest) or other events that result in unavoidable changes to the itinerary (e.g. transport strikes or cancellations, airport closures). Sometimes these things necessitate last minute changes to enable our trips to continue to run, and as a result there may be some extra costs involved.

The trip includes use of Iceland public transport yellow buses (straeto) throughout the entire stay. Transportation in Iceland is very expensive and so are the rental cars. The yellow buses are the best alternative to explore Iceland especially on the south-coast route which is mostly active during this time.

The tickets can be easily paid by your smartphone but you need to configure with your credit card well in advance prior to departure. Its very easy and you can refer this blog link for learning how to do it (https://iheartreykjavik.net/2014/12/smartphone-app-bus-reykjavik/?cn-reloaded=1)

We believe solo travelers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travelers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and solo travelers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.

You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied on this tour.

100% of Non-refundable Payment is required. Please be advise to book asap due to very limited accommodation availability.

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travelers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our travel leaders have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they use prostitutes.
