step by step process for Canada immigration
Step - 1
Check Eligibility for Express Entry Program
Get an preliminary evaluation report including:
- Eligible Points for Express Entry
- Qualifying CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System)
- Qualifying Points on Core Human Capital Factors
- Qualifying Points on Skill Transferability Factors
- Additional Qualifying Points

Step - 2
ECA (Education assessment) & Language Score
Get your desired ECA & Language scores:
- Arrange Transcripts from your university and get Educational assessment (ECA)
- You can take either or both English & French test
- IELTS is widely given for English Language
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 is required to qualify
- CLB 7 = IELTS 6 (for each ability)
- Higher the IELTS, better the chances.
Step - 3
Profile creation & EOI (Expression of Interest)
Express Entry profile is created to show your EOI:
- ECA and IELTS Reports are required during this step.
- Profile in created including your passport information & based on NOC (National Occupational Classification)
- You will get points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on factors including: language proficiency, age, work experience, education and adaptability.
- If your calculated CRS score is less than the CRS draw cut-off for past years, then you get an optional PNP nomination to increase your chances.
Step - 4
PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Nominations
Get PNP Nominations to boost your CRS Score:
- Each province and territory has its own immigration programs for which you can get separate nominations.
- Qualifying candidate get 600 additional CRS score for this.
- Each province has separate requirements, Candidate need to address the best one which they can qualify.,
- If any province nominates you, they will send you a "notification of interest" against nomination.
- After receiving NOI, express entry profile is completed, submitted and awaits ITA
Step - 5
Receive ITA (Invitation To apply)
As IRCC conducts a draw from the pool, get your ITA
- Candidates who meet the cut-off threshold are invited to apply for permanent residence.
- The invitation to apply is valid for 60 calendar days (90 days during COVID-19)
- Review & collect all of your supporting documentation before receiveing an ITA.
- If you miss 60/90 days deadline, the ITA become invalid & candidates will have their profile returned to Express entry pool (if eligible). Next step, submit your application for PR
Step - 6
Apply for PR (Permanent Residence) Visa
After receiving ITA, Submit your PR application:
- Within 60 days (90 Days during COVID-19) of receiving your ITA, you have submit a completed application of Permanent Residence (PR)
- This includes submitting all supporting documents in the account you have described in the Express Entry Profile.
- Pay your PR visa fees while submitting your application
- After successful submission, there is 15 days - 6 months waiting period to get confirmation.
- After receiving PR confirmation, Visa need stamping is Passport.
